「記憶のなかのカレー」 岩間朝子（アーティスト）/ Curry in my memory by Asako Iwama (Artist)

岩間朝子さんは食べることを軸に異なる社会で何を滋養としているかを探っている。今回は横浜トリエンナーレ（2020）で発表した映像作品『貝塚』を上映、その中に登場するカレーとセイロンティーを実際に味わう。カレースパイスは作家が記憶をたぐり寄せ調べるうちに出会った特別な配合。映像には現地で60年代の森林入植開発と移民労働者、その後の民族紛争を研究した父親の遺品、作家が幼少のころ聞いた話、父親の病など、今は訪れることのできない風景が立ち現れる。このような体験を通して私たちが日々口にするものがもたらす世界について語り合う場を作り出したい （HLA No.16 テキストより抜粋）。

16th Hamacho Liberal Arts is hosted by Berlin based artist, Asako Iwama to listen to and taste her research about Jaffna vegetable curry, the typical curry of Tamil community in Sri Lanka. This work is based on the research of Iwama’s father who used to be the researcher Agricultural development and immigrant workers in the same region.

建築事務所o+hが拠点とする日本橋浜町LAB１階にて不定期で行っている勉強会。様々なトピックに対して、創造的な方法で向き合っている世界中のアーティスト、デザイナー、建築家、編集者、キュレーターなどの作り手とつながり、彼らのプロジェクトとそれに至るまでのプロセスを共有する。普段、専門分野で分断されがちな視野を広げることで、社会と創造的に関わる姿勢について様々な立場の人々が何度も学び直すことができる場所を目指している。
Hamacho Liberal Arts is a study group taken place at Hamacho LAB. 1F, Tokyo, where the architectural office o+h is based. By having the opportunity to talk with people who create the values, such as artist, designer, architects, editor, curator etc., and share the process of their project, it aim to broaden the view that is otherwise being limited by their specialities and become an opportunity to unlearn and relearn for people in all levels of social practice.
