about | Materia Prima

Materia Prima is a curatorial platform and production label by Yoshiko Nagai. Through research and collaboration with different creatives, we produce exhibitions, publications and various forms of communication projects in order to make narrative between human being and natural resource, build the alternative way of learning and eventually create environment to keep making things with what is given by earth.

Materia Primaは永井佳子によるプロダクションレーベルです。自然資源と人間の創造をつなぐナラティブを作ること、オルタナティブな方法で知識を共有することを念頭に企画制作を行なっています。

Yoshiko Nagai (Curator / Producer / Writer)

Graduated from MA Creative Curating, Goldsmiths, University of London, Yoshiko Nagai worked for the section of cultural affairs and design direction at foreign enterprise from 2004-2019. There, she worked for many communication projects and brought together artists, designers and crafts persons appropriate for objective of each projects. Based on the field work, Nagai researches about relationship between natural resources and human culture and aim to build a system and environment to connect the society and the natural environment through creativity, without being bound by the field and medium. Lecturer at Kyoto City University of Art.

永井佳子（キュレーター／プロデューサー／ライター）

慶應義塾大学文学部哲学科美学美術史専攻、ロンドン大学ゴールドスミス校キュレーティング修士修了。2004年から2019年まで外資系企業にて文化事業、デザインディレクションを担当。企画の目的に即した芸術家やデザイナー、職人を引き合わせ、協働するコミュニケーションプロジェクトを多数行う。2020年よりMateria Prima主宰。フィールドワークを軸に自然資源と文化の関係を研究。分野の枠にとらわれず、クリエイティブを通じて環境と社会をつなぐためのしくみを作っている。京都市立芸術大学非常勤講師。
