長い時間をかけて地下に浸透した水を蓄えた地層から、今、地上で地下水に触れることができる場所といった異なる要素を一枚の紙に展開した地図。ここに示されている場所を実際に訪れて水の動きを思い描いてみることで、足元深くの地層や、かつてそこにあった風景、山と空の向こう、さらに水を必要とする人間以外の生き物や水を司る信仰の世界について、見えるものから転じて、見えないものを追うきっかけになるのでは。
Water Calling – Map of Water traveling around Kyoto
This visual map traces the paths of Kyoto waters from its underground journey to its uses in the city. It relates remarkable sites to the presence of aquifer. This map also invite you to visit the sites and imagine the movements of their waters. From what is visible, you may begin to perceive what lies hidden: the geology beneath your feet, the landscapes of times past, the realms beyond mountain and sky, and the enduring spiritual traditions that teach us water’s stewardship.
