「Water Calling – 京都の地下から聞こえる音」は京都の地下に豊富に流れる地下水のメカニズムと、人々が水とどのように共存してきたのかをデザイナー、イザベル・ダエロンによるドローイングで表したコンセプトブックです。3月に行った京都での展示やイベントを経て、本書の装丁を行ったグラフィックデザイナーのサイトヲヒデユキさん主宰のギャラリー、書肆サイコロにて展示を行います。
会場ではイザベル・ダエロンによる描き下ろしのドローイングのほか、昨年10月に現地で行ったフィールドワークの際に制作した、資料、データなどを統合しつつ描きながら考える独自のメソッド「リサーチウォール」も展示。その他、15年以上に渡り取り組んできた水、風、太陽などの自然エネルギーと共存するためのデザインプロジェクトも紹介します。
会場ではアーティストの試行錯誤を聞く小冊子「Materia Prima vol.3」も紹介。ダエロンのインタビューのほか、水の循環を表すポスターを描くに至ったリサーチウォールの原本も展示します。

“Water Calling” is a concept book that uses drawings by Isabelle Daëron to illustrate the mechanism of the underground water that flows abundantly beneth Kyoto and how people have coexisted with this water. After exhibiting and holding events in Kyoto in March this year, the book and drawing will be exhibited at the gallery Shoshi Saicoro, run by graphic designer Hideyuki Saito.
In addition to drawings by Isabelle Daëron for this book, a “research wall,” a unique method of thinking while drawing that integrates history, geography, and data, created during fieldwork conducted last October, will also be on display. Other projects, such as public art project for cohabit with natural energy such as water, wind, and sun, which the artist has been working on for more than 15 years, will also be introduced.
